Vietnam, Canada and Cambodia ease entry for tourists

Popular tourist destinations continue to lift strict measures to combat COVID-19. Dip.org.ua presents another collection.

Vietnam

Vietnamese authorities after a long break announced the opening of the country for tourists. According to the new rules, foreign tourists are not required to provide vaccination passports. They must undergo a PCR or rapid antigen test 72 and 24 hours before arrival, respectively. This requirement does not apply to children under two years of age.

If they were unable to take a COVID-19 test prior to departure, they must do so within 24 hours of arrival. Foreign tourists also complete a health declaration before entering and must also download and use the PC-COVID app during their stay in Vietnam. Within 10 days from the date of entry, foreign arrivals are required to independently monitor their health and immediately report to the nearest medical institutions if they have symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, chills, headaches. The wearing of masks remains mandatory.

This week, the issuance of visas for those arriving from abroad has been resumed. Visa-free entry is provided only for 13 countries.

Canada

Canada will remove pre-travel COVID-19 testing requirements for fully vaccinated travelers from April 1. Rules changed for entry by air, land or water.

However, coronavirus vaccinated travelers arriving in Canada from any country may still be required to take a rapid test on arrival as part of mandatory random testing. Test takers are not required to quarantine while waiting for test results.

Cambodia

Cambodia has reopened to vaccinated travelers. Those with a COVID-19 vaccination passport can visit an Asian country without quarantine or testing requirements and can obtain visas on arrival. The day before, the new rules were published in a government press release.

Cambodia has faced a drop in international tourism of more than 80 percent due to the pandemic, after which recovery measures have been taken, including nearly 90 percent of the population being vaccinated. Significant funds have also been invested in the development of beach resorts, road rehabilitation and the creation of cycle paths around popular sites such as the temple complex of Angkor Wat. It is one of three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Cambodia. Angkor Wat is a grandiose complex surrounded by a moat, originally built as a Hindu temple, but by the end of the 12th century it had become Buddhist.

Philippines

From April 1, for the first time since the pandemic, the Philippines will open its borders to all international travelers. Philippine embassies and consulates will resume issuing visas from the same date.

Under the updated rules, instead of the original requirement for a PCR test 48 hours before arrival, the authorities allowed the release of an antigen test result taken within 24 hours of departure. The country’s departments intend to take a number of indulgences for tourists in the near future.
