Thousands of flights canceled in US due to snowstorm

Thousands of flights have been canceled in the United States ahead of a powerful snow storm, CNN reports, with several state governors urging citizens to postpone car travel.

A severe cold snap and a snow storm will hit the south of the country tonight. A storm warning has affected residents in regions from the Rocky Mountains to New England.

The states of Missouri and Oklahoma declared a state of emergency. Up to 20 cm of snow is expected in Oklahoma. Schools closed in Dallas and Kansas City during the storm. In the states of Arkansas and Illinois, the National Guard is on high alert.

About 3,000 domestic flights have been canceled for today and tomorrow, 3 February. In particular, flights of Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta Air will not take place. They offer passengers free rebooking tickets for other dates.
