Today in England the rules for fully vaccinated and young people under the age of 18 are changing. They will no longer need to isolate themselves for 10 days, according to a scheme of testing and monitoring in contact with infected people.
Businesses have expressed serious concerns about staff shortages and empty store shelves, forcing the government to take action. More than three-quarters of the population has already received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, and the government is betting heavily on successful mass vaccinations to lift some of the remaining restrictions.
Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Health, adolescents aged 16 and 17 in England will be able to register for the first dose by August 23. Health Minister Sajid Javid said the teens would have two weeks to boost their immunity before resuming school in September.
Children between the ages of 12 and 15 who have health problems will also receive an invitation to be vaccinated. However, unlike the elderly, young people will not be prescribed a second dose, according to BNR.
Over the past 24hrs, 26,750 new cases have been reported and 61 have died. According to the government, the vaccines saved the lives of about 84,600 people and prevented the infection of another 23.4 million people. 89% of British adults received the first dose, and 77% – the second.
