Hungary has changed the rules of entry for Ukrainian citizens

Hungarian authorities have announced that entry restrictions for arrivals from several non-EU countries have been eased.

According to the latest publication in the Hungarian Gazette, it became known that from August 7, passengers from several countries around the world will have to present only a negative result of the PCR test when flying to the country.

It also states that at the time of arrival, the PCR test must not be older than 72 hours, and the document must be provided in Hungarian or English.

Thus, after publication in the Hungarian Gazette, travelers coming from the following areas are allowed to enter the country, provided that they meet the requirements of testing:

Member States of the European Union and the Schengen area

Countries specified in the resolution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in agreement with the Ministry of Public Security

Albania
Azerbaijan
Bahrain
Canada
Kazakhstan
Kyrgyzstan
Montenegro
Northern Macedonia
Russia
Serbia
United Kingdom
united states
Turkey
Uzbekistan

Earlier, Hungary opened its borders to vaccinated travelers coming from Russia. However, under the new changes, Russian travelers no longer need to be vaccinated to enter Hungary.

Thus, with the exception of Russian travelers, all persons entering Hungary from one of the above-mentioned areas do not need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to obtain a permit to enter the latter’s territory.

Until the entry into force of the new decree, persons who did not have a Hungarian medical passport, an EU digital certificate for COVID-19 or another document related to coronavirus recognized in Hungary could not enter the country by plane. However, the new decree has solved the problem, especially for those living outside the European Union.

In addition, despite the fact that COVID-19 medical cards have become mandatory for access to certain activities and services in at least 16 EU countries, foreigners arriving in Hungary can still stay in their homes and visit restaurants and tourist attractions without carrying a COVID-19 health pass.

With the exception of the areas mentioned above, the new decree also allows unrestricted entry into Ukraine, which was the only country neighboring Hungary that was subject to stricter restrictions.

Thus, now all neighboring countries with Hungary – Austria, Slovakia, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Ukraine – can enter the country without restrictions.
