UAE updates entry rules for travelers

The authorities of the United Arab Emirates have updated the entry rules for international travelers ahead of the start of the holiday season. Now citizens of the UAE and the Gulf countries can fly into the country on their identity cards – without having to show passports.

Fully vaccinated passengers will no longer take PCR tests – it is enough to present a vaccination certificate with a QR code. Tourists and residents of the UAE who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 must present negative results of the PCR test (valid for 48 hours) with a QR code.

The authorities of the United Arab Emirates have exempted fully vaccinated passengers arriving in the country from PCR testing from February 26, 2022. Travelers who have not been vaccinated must present negative results of the PCR test or a certificate of illness with a QR code received no earlier than a month before the trip.

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi has lifted the quarantine for all international travelers. The authorities of Dubai have made it easier for residents and visitors of the emirate to wear masks: wearing masks has ceased to be mandatory on the street, and the mask regime remains indoors.

Abu Dhabi authorities no longer ask for PCR test results for those entering the capital by road from other emirates. In enclosed spaces, including at tourist sites, the social distancing rule has been lifted.

In early May, Abu Dhabi introduced relief for tourist sites and events – now they can work with 100% occupancy and occupancy of the premises. This decision was made by the Capital Committee for the Management of Emergency Situations, Crises and Natural Disasters.
