The volume of passenger traffic from Russia to the United Arab Emirates increased against the backdrop of restrictions on air traffic with European countries. According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, Russians more often began to use flights with a connection in Dubai to fly to Europe.
Air passengers from Russia use routes through the UAE for flights to Cyprus, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and France. In addition, the Emirates, along with Turkey, have become a hub connecting Russia with the United States and some Asian destinations.
“By analyzing pre-sanctions capacity for scheduled flights (during the week of February 21) compared to the latest available data (during the week to March 7), there was a 5% increase in traffic from Russia to the UAE,” said Vice President ForwardKeys Olivier Ponty.
At the moment, the cheapest ticket for a flight with a connection from Moscow to Dubai at the end of March will cost 41,000 rubles, and a ticket for a direct Emirates flight can be bought at a price of 61,000 rubles. At the beginning of April the prices are the same.
