Windows in Amsterdam’s red light district may close

The left-liberal party Democrats 66 intends to put forward the issue of closing the windows of the brothels of the red light district with blackout curtains for discussion by the city council of Amsterdam, DIP reports citing Mirror.com.

Party members believe that brothel workers have become a tourist attraction in Amsterdam, leading to “demeaning and unwelcome” treatment of workers by travelers.

Now the windows of brothels are closed with curtains when the workers receive clients, at other times they are open so that the employees and potential guests can see each other. According to the proposal of the “Democrats 66”, they can be closed forever so that customers can arrange a visit to the brothel using smartphones via a QR code.

The girls themselves believe this will not make their work safer, since they will not see who booked their services.

The Red Light District is considered one of the main tourist attractions in Amsterdam. There are even guided tours.
