For frequent flyers, the seat you choose can make or break your flight. While a window seat offers great views, experts say the aisle seat is the smarter choice — not only for convenience but also for hygiene and comfort.
Cleaner and healthier
Travel expert Andrea Platania from Transfeero explains that aisle seats are usually cleaned more thoroughly. Cabin crews often have limited turnaround time between flights, and reaching window seats properly can be challenging. “Aisle seats are easier to access and therefore tend to be wiped down more often,” says Platania.
Air circulation is also better along the aisle. “Air flows from top to bottom and side to side, so being in the aisle gives you slightly fresher airflow — especially on older aircraft,” she adds.
More freedom and less stress
With an aisle seat, you can get up anytime to stretch, use the restroom, or access your bag without climbing over others. For long flights, that freedom of movement makes a big difference in comfort and circulation.
Faster exit after landing
Aisle passengers are the first to disembark. When everyone stands up at once, those by the aisle are already halfway to the door — a key advantage for business travelers or anyone with a tight connection.
In short
Choosing the aisle seat is a small decision with big benefits — cleaner, fresher, and more flexible. If you value comfort and convenience, make the aisle your go-to choice for every flight.
