US lifts mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations for incoming foreigners

The cancellation will take effect from May 12, after the emergency situation imposed by the US government in 2020 in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic ends on May 11, Voice of America reports.

The Biden administration said it will “waive mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements for federal employees, federal contractors, and international air travelers by the end of the day on May 11.

“More information on the lifting of these requirements will be provided in the coming days,” a press release on the White House website said.

The US Department of Homeland Security also said that starting May 12, it will no longer require foreign passengers entering the US through all land ports and ships to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
