Turkey worried about sea pollution at the resort

The Turkish authorities drew attention to the pollution of the sea near the popular resort town of Bodrum, which occurred due to the discharge of chemical, industrial, agricultural, and household waste into the water.

Bodrum City Council Chairman Arif Yilmaz noted that some boats moored outside the harbor of the tourist city are illegally dumping bilge waste into the waters, despite existing bans and fines. In addition, he stated that dirty sewage entered the sea due to a crack in one of the pipes of the treatment system.

“The port cannot cope with the increased load – to avoid costs, ship owners dump waste directly into the sea. If environmentalists do not take precautions, the waters of Bodrum will also be similar to the Sea of Marmara, ”the publication quotes the city archaeologist as saying.

Earlier in June, the Russians noticed spots of fuel oil in the sea near Antalya. According to eyewitnesses, the vacationers who came out of the water could hardly wash off the black stains from their bathing suits and bodies.
