Turkey’s tourism revenues in 2021 increased by 103 percent to 24 billion 482 million 332 thousand dollars. This was reported by the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (TÜİK).
According to TÜİK, 19 billion 679 million 915 thousand dollars of the total revenue from tourism in 2021 amounted to personal expenses of tourists, and 4 billion 802 million 417 thousand dollars – the cost of travel packages.
The average daily living expenses of a tourist were $ 66, including $ 73 for foreigners and $ 50 for Turkish nationals who came from abroad to travel to Turkey.
Last year, 29,357,463 tourists left Turkey, which is 85.5 percent more than in 2020.
At the same time, 81.5 percent of this number (23,940,021 people) were foreigners, 18.5 percent (5,417,442 people) were representatives of the diaspora.
Last year, tourist spending increased by 67.7 percent compared to 2020 – to 1 billion 851 million 922 thousand dollars. In particular, 1 billion 819 million 811 thousand dollars were personal expenses of tourists, and 32 million 111 thousand dollars – the cost of travel packages.
