Turkey assesses the first consequences of the war on the tourism industry

The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism has released fresh inbound tourism data for April and the first four months of 2022, Turkish media reported.

According to the information collected, the number of people entering from Russia, which has been the main market for Turkey for a long time, decreased by 11% compared to 2021 and amounted to 490 thousand (against 552 thousand).

At the same time, the volume of tourists from Ukraine remained practically unchanged. In the first four months, 189,000 Ukrainian citizens arrived in Turkey (187,000 in the same period in 2021).

At the same time, the country that sent the most tourists in the first four months was Germany: 813,000 tourists, an increase of 339 percent. Also, very active growth was demonstrated in the markets of France (176 thousand people, an increase of 218%), the Netherlands (233 thousand people, 349.22%), and the UK (406 thousand, an increase of 349%).
