Tourists won’t like it: Greece raises prices on everything from July 1

Restaurants in Greece charge ever-higher prices every week. Cafe, bar, and tavern owners say they are forced to adjust prices as their costs rise.

For example, coffee, which was sold on the beach for 2 euros last summer, now costs 4 euros. Different restaurants have different prices, but always higher than before.

Manufacturers of clothing and footwear also say they are forced to raise prices and expect a drop in turnover. From July 1, a new wave of price increases is expected, which will affect not only food products, economists warn.

Greece has already commented on “energy poverty”. A survey published the day before shows that every second Greek family is having difficulty paying for electricity, and a third of Greeks are deprived of food to cover their debts.
