Tourists smeared with fake sunscreen and burned to blisters

Tourists were badly sunburned while on holiday in Thailand, despite the fact that they used sunscreen. As it turned out, their tool turned out to be a fake. An angry couple of travelers showed their blisters on their skin and warned others to be careful when buying sunscreen.

The story of tourists in Tiktok began with an intriguing moment. “My boyfriend and I had a great time until we bought a fake sunscreen,” the tourists wrote. Then the girl showed photos in which the two of them pose on vacation on surfboards and on the beach.

But then she showed intimidating photos of any tourist: the couple posed in their rooms, where it was clear that they were burned from head to toe. They explained that although they had applied sunscreen for only two hours in the sun, they had such a deplorable result. “Imagine you are applying a fake sunscreen to a child,” the traveler signed the video.

The girl said that she did not spare the sunscreen and smeared herself and the boy, but she was not there: her skin turned red and blisters appeared on her shoulders. It turned out that a week later the young people ran out of cream taken with them on vacation, and they decided to buy a Thai version.

We used protection factor 50 for 7 days and did not burn. This is not my first trip and use of the cream. It was definitely a fake, otherwise why did we burn ?! – The girl was indignant at the comments of skeptics.

How to apply the sunscreen?

Marco Lins, an oncologist who specializes in skin cancer, told the British media: “The right amount to use sunscreen is one teaspoon for the whole face and neck. The cream should be applied every two hours if you are in the sun. I always recommend the broad-spectrum sunscreen SPF (sun protection factor) 30, as it provides high protection against both UVA and UVB radiation. If there is excessive sweating or we bathe, we need to reapply sunscreen 40 or 80 minutes after swimming, depending on whether the sunscreen is waterproof or very waterproof.

According to a 2018 study by researchers at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, USA, people with pale skin who are sensitive to the sun should use several sunscreens to avoid sunburn. Those who used only sunscreen were more likely to get sunburned than those who wore a hat, protective clothing or sat in the shade in addition to sunscreen.
