Tourists persuaded to give up their smartphones in a restaurant

90 percent of restaurant guests in the French city of Albi spend their meal time without a smartphone. At least that’s what the restaurant staff say. What motivates guests not to touch the phone and communicate more with each other.

The owners of the restaurant took a very simple, but, as it turned out, effective step – they began to pour free drinks to guests who lasted without a phone for the entire meal. Guests are treated to free coffee or a digestif. However, the visitor must put his phone in a special basket and in no case touch it, neither in order to take a photo, nor for social networks, and even if the guest is called. This is supervised by the staff of the restaurant. According to them, 90 percent of guests use this service.

The restaurant launched its initiative in early January. In this way, the owners of the establishment want to help guests communicate more with each other.

Previously, experts told how much to leave for a tip in different countries. The average tip is 10-15 percent of the bill. Despite the fact that this is a voluntary matter, in some countries the tip amount is automatically added to the tourist’s bill. And, for example, in Japan they are categorically not accepted.
