According to the Ministry of Tourism of Turkey, the increase in the number of foreign tourists in May amounted to 308.48% compared to May last year. In total, from January to May, the country received more than 12.7 million foreign visitors – 207.10% more than in the same period a year earlier.
In general, 3 million 824 thousand 555 foreigners visited Turkey in May. Citizens of Germany are in the lead in the growth of the tourist flow – the German tourist flow increased by 367.24%. In second place are tourists from Bulgaria (334.88%), and Russians close the top three with 49.40%.
According to the tourist flow in Turkey in May, Germany is also the leader (494,900 people). In second place is the UK with 395,000 tourists, and in third place in Russia with 362,700 tourists.
Thus, the flow of tourists from the Russian Federation to Turkey in May decreased by 2.5 times compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019, by 62.4%.
Recall, the head of the Turkish Ministry of Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, said that by the end of this year, Turkey plans to receive 42 million foreign tourists.
