According to the Hürriyet Daily News, the tourist flow to Antalya (Turkey) increased sharply in the first half of April due to the Easter holidays in Europe. In the first two weeks of the month, the resort received 300,000 tourists.
In April 2021, 178,000 foreign tourists arrived in Antalya, and in the same month of 2020, at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, only 905 people.
Recep Yavuz, head of the Antalya City Council’s tourism working group, said the influx of European tourists during the Easter holidays “saves Antalya’s economy” amid a decline in Ukrainian and Russian tourist flows.
At the moment, 50 planes with tourists per day land at the resort’s airport. According to the results of the current month, the foreign tourist flow in Antalya may exceed 600,000 people.
In the first quarter of 2022, Antalya welcomed over 500,000 foreign guests, up 93% from a year earlier.
