A Southwest Airlines flight pilot threatened to cancel takeoff after someone on the plane started sending nude photos to other passengers.
The Apple AirDrop file transfer service incident occurred on a flight from the US to Mexico.
“If this continues while we are on the ground, I will have to stop the flight, everyone will have to get off, and we will attract security and … the vacation will be ruined …
So you guys stop sending nude photos and let’s go to Mexico,” the pilot said.
Passenger Taylor Marsalis told CNN that she and her friends had just boarded a plane when she and everyone around her received a file-sharing notification via AirDrop (the iPhone’s file-sharing system).
Marsalis said she rejected the file, but two women in front of her accepted it and showed her the photo.
“It was a naked man who was dropping himself to everyone using AirDrop,” she said.
Marsalis said she saw another woman get upset over the photos and reported the incident to a flight attendant.
“The safety, security, and well-being of customers and employees is always the highest priority for the Southwest Airlines team. Upon becoming aware of a potential issue, our employees address issues to ensure the comfort of those traveling with us,” Southwest Airlines said in a statement.
Marsalis said the pilot was professional and handled the situation well.
