Tourism in Turkey will not suffer – such a reassuring pill in connection with recent events in Ukraine voiced by Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy. According to his statement in the official media, he said, speaking about the Russian-Ukrainian war: “These events will not affect Turkish tourism, all measures have been taken.” He said this, also speaking at the presentation of Turkey’s tourism goals for 2023 and 2028 at the headquarters of the AKP (the “ruling” Turkish party).
“It simply came to our notice then. Our country-specific work is in order. I don’t think it will affect us. We have already faced such crises, we are ready, “said the Turkish Minister of Tourism. He then voiced an optimistic forecast for the year: 42 million visitors and 35 million revenues from tourism are planned for 2022, and 100 million visitors and 120 billion revenues from tourism for 2028.
It will be recalled that the Turkish tourism industry does not share the optimism of the chief official. According to their estimates, in the case of Turkey will lose 1 million tourists; according to the most realistic forecast – 4-5 million, while Russia can “close” at any moment.
