German tourists are no longer afraid to travel and choose all available destinations for travel, as was the case before the coronavirus pandemic. This is evidenced by the statistics of departures from Germany abroad in January-March 2022. The growth of flights to resorts increased by a record 353%. Spain and Turkey became the leaders of the directions.
According to the Federal Statistical Office of Germany Destatis, in 2022 flights abroad increased from 2 million to 9.4 million people. Among the best destinations for German vacationers was Spain. The number of Germans coming to the country’s resorts increased by 436% and exceeded 1.6 million people.
Turkey took the second place in popularity. Flights from Germany to the republic increased by 192%, only in the first three months of the year there were 913 thousand German tourists. The most popular were the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera), an increase of 335% over previous periods, arrivals in Antalya, Turkey “grew” by 453%, and the Canary Islands (Maspalomas, Playa Blanca, Puerto Rico, etc.) – At 444%.
Third place – behind Italy. The number of German tourists to this country, although increased by 698%, but only 551 thousand tourists came. Greece is behind the top three. The growth of air travel from Germany increased by 414%, the number of tourists – 211 thousand. Air passenger traffic from Germany to France also increased by 784%. A total of 389,000 Germans visited the European country from the beginning of the year to March inclusive. The flow of tourists to Egypt is also significant: the growth was a record 939% and 239 thousand vacationers.
