Nobody likes morning flights, because you have to arrive at the airport in a few hours and wake up at night. However, they have a big plus.
Megan Homm, an international airline marketer, explained the risks to passengers who choose late flights.
According to her, passengers who bought tickets for the first flight are less likely to face changes in the schedule.
If the morning flight is canceled, tourists are more likely to fly another day during the day. This is especially true in winter, because during this period, the most common cancellations of flights due to weather conditions.
Her words are confirmed by a study conducted by the US Bureau of Transportation Statistics. The study collected data on more than 6 million flights in 2013, then divided them into groups according to their departure time, and then analyzed the average delay time.
It turned out that the ideal time to choose a morning flight – 6-7 o’clock in the morning. Flight delays average 6-8 minutes. Then there is an interval from 7 to 8 o’clock in the morning. Then flight delays occur more often every hour. The average delay time during the day is 20 minutes.
Airline officials believe that the delay in early flights is zero, as there are few people at the airport, registration and passport verification is fast.
