The flight attendant told how not to pay for excess baggage on the flight

Excess weight of luggage on the scales at the airport is an unpleasant surprise that can cost a happy Ukrainian tourist a penny. American stewardess Kat Kamalani, known for her videos in TikTok, told about an ingenious way to avoid paying for the transportation of luggage that exceeds the norm. It is enough to bring a piece of bed linen.

Baggage regulations can be very strict for travelers, especially for those who fly low-cost carriers. If tourists refuse to pay for excess baggage, they may be required to leave luggage or remove the tourist from the flight. Stewardess Kate Camalani said her advice is best for holidaymakers returning from vacation. “This trick will save you if you ever have too much luggage while traveling and you return from vacation,” she said.

This may seem illogical, but the stewardess’s advice is to put extra luggage in your bag. It can be a fabric bag or a regular pillowcase. “Put a pillowcase in your bag, because if there is a predominance of luggage on the scales at the airport, you can get extra clothes from the suitcase and fill your pillowcase with it, and use it as a ready-made pillow in the cabin. “This will avoid paying for excess baggage,” said the flight attendant.

In her video on TikTok, Kamalani showed how she stuffs a pile of clothes into an empty pillowcase before landing. At the same time, she assured tourists that the pillowcase will not be considered hand luggage. One commenter called the advice ingenious, another said he had already taken advantage of the advice, and when airline staff asked it to pack, he replied that there were clothes inside. According to him, he boarded the plane with his heavy pillow. “So! I picked up a zippered pillowcase filled with our beach towels and travel blankets, for which I didn’t have enough space. Used in both directions, this does not apply to hand luggage! “, – wrote one of the users.

However, there were those who were skeptical of the advice of an experienced flight attendant. “It’s great, that’s exactly what I want to see – the person next to me has a pillow with dirty clothes. Nice smell, congratulations, “the commentator wrote.

However, most agreed that the council can be a lifeline for tourists who like to travel with lots of clothes or souvenir fans.

Tourists should keep in mind that the cheapest seats in low-cost carriers allow passengers to take with them only one small bag, which should be under the front seat. If tourists want to use the upper lockers for larger luggage, they usually have to pay extra for booking it.

And here begins a chain sequence with the word “if”. Most airlines say that if a traveler’s bag is overweight and does not fit into the calibrator, it will have to be handed in at your own expense. And if the luggage is overweight, the tourist will have to pay a fee for exceeding the baggage allowance. If the traveler’s luggage is seriously overweight, it is usually cheaper to pay for extra luggage before arriving at the airport. Another option is to give some of the luggage to the passenger, if it takes place in a suitcase.
