According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, the tourist flow to this country from January to April amounted to almost 9 million people.
According to statistics, in just the first four months of 2022, Turkey received 8.9 million tourists, of which 7.45 million were foreigners, and 1.4 million were Turkish citizens living abroad. Foreign tourist flow increased by 172.5% compared to the same period in 2021.
Germany became the leader of inbound tourism during this period, from where 813,700 people arrived. In second place is Bulgaria (679,400 tourists), in third is Iran (654,600). Russia is in fourth place with 490,900 tourists. The United Kingdom closes the top five (406,500).
Most often, during the reporting period, foreign tourists visited Istanbul (3.88 million, a share of 51.9% of the total tourist flow). Also popular were the provinces of Antalya (1.1 million, 14.9% share), Edirne (965,400, 12.9%), Artvin (272,600, 3.65%) and Izmir (177,700, 2.4%).
