Ryanair to Roll Out 100% Digital Boarding Passes from November 12: Everything You Need to Know

Ryanair переходить на повністю цифрові посадкові талони: що зміниться з 12 листопада

Starting November 12, Ryanair will roll out 100% Digital Boarding Passes (DBP) across most of its airports. Physical tickets will no longer be accepted in most locations, as the airline transitions to a fully paperless boarding system.

Originally planned for May 2025, the initiative aims to cut fees, streamline check-in, and save approximately 300 tonnes of paper each year. It will also provide passengers with real-time flight updates directly through the Ryanair App.

How to get a digital boarding pass Ryanair

Passengers can check in online at Ryanair.com or through the Ryanair App (available on the App Store and Google Play).

Once checked in, the DBP automatically appears in the app and must be shown at airport security and the boarding gate.

The airline describes this as a “faster, easier, and less stressful” process compared to traditional paper passes.

What if my phone dies or I lose it?

Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary confirmed that passengers won’t be stranded if their device runs out of battery or is lost.

If you’ve checked in online, you’ll be issued a free paper boarding pass at the airport.

Staff at the gate can access each passenger’s sequence number, ensuring boarding without the device.

What if there’s no Wi-Fi or mobile data?

After online check-in, the digital boarding pass remains accessible offline in the Ryanair App.

The airline will continue sending email reminders 48 and 24 hours before departure.

Passengers who fail to check in online will face an airport check-in fee:

  • €55 for most flights

  • €30 for Spain

  • €40 for Austria
