The authorities of the Portuguese Algarve region have decided to introduce a new tax for tourists. It will take effect in the coming days.
So, foreigners who stay in hotels, hostels, or other official places will have to pay an additional €2 per night (maximum – €10 – for five nights, after that you will not have to pay). Most likely, the tax will be included in the cost of housing.
The tax will operate in the test mode all summer. Perhaps they will extend it for the low season, but foreigners will pay less.
