Egypt has allowed amateur photo and video filming in public places without prior approval. This was stated by the Ministry of Tourism of the country.
Previously, to shoot in a public place, it was necessary to obtain a special license. Now the Egyptian authorities have made concessions. Taking pictures and videos for personal use is free and without permission.
However, children are not allowed. Photographing adults is allowed only with their consent. Sights can only be photographed without a flash and for personal purposes.
An important clarification is that a tourist, as well as locals, when taking photos and videos, are obliged “not to shoot or distribute images or videos that can discredit Egypt in one form or another.”
If a person uses professional lighting equipment or road closure is necessary for work, permission must be obtained.
According to the country’s authorities, the decision should help increase the loyalty of tourists to Egypt.
