No more bare torsos: in Italy, tourists began to be fined

A fine of 25 to 500 euros will have to be paid to a tourist walking in a swimsuit or without a shirt in the Italian resort of Sorrento. The resolution signed last month by the mayor of Sorrento, Massimo Coppola, entered into force. According to him, tourists in swimsuits or without outerwear in public places of the resort will be mercilessly fined.

The amount depends on the degree of nudity of the tourist. And also from whether such behavior is a relapse. “No more rude tourists. That’s why I signed the decree, which prohibits people from walking bare-chested, as well as in bathing suits,” commented the mayor.

According to him, the vast number of ill-mannered tourists in this resort town on the coast of Neapolitan Bay is causing “anxiety and discomfort” to residents. It is not surprising – about 16,000 residents live in Sorrento, and much more “come in” during the season. “We want to protect and improve the quality of life of residents and the public environment in public places,” added the mayor.

We remind you that this is far from the only fine “for impoliteness” that a tourist can request in Italy. Read details at this link.
