Indian customs officers find 22 snakes in passenger’s luggage

The press service of the airport in the Indian city of Chennai showed how employees detained a woman who wanted to carry dozens of snakes in her luggage.

The woman arrived from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, trying to smuggle 22 snakes of various types and sizes, officials said. A chameleon was also seized.

In a video released by Chennai Customs, the reptiles can be seen packed in various clear plastic containers.

The Parliament of India passed the Wildlife Conservation Act in 1972 to protect plants and animals (the list includes precisely those species that were tried to be smuggled in).
