India to update national tourism policy

The Indian authorities will present a new national tourism policy before the budget session of Parliament. This was stated by the Minister of Tourism and Culture of the Gangapuram Union Kishan Reddy, speaking at the National Conference of Ministers of Tourism of the states in Dharamshala.

He said that the national tourism policy will be developed after extensive consultations and discussions with stakeholders. Reddy noted that the National Conference of State Tourism Ministers is important in the context of India’s G20 Presidency.

The G-20 will be used as a platform to showcase India’s tourism potential to the world, the minister said. He also revealed that various tourist routes are currently being promoted and a new “Ambedkar route” will be launched soon.

Emphasizing the importance of air connectivity, Kishan Reddy said the number of airports in the country has increased from 74 in 2014 to 140 now. This was reported on the official website of the Government of India.
