In Turkey, tourists complain about the terrible stench from discarded internal organs of animals

The internal organs of sacrificial animals – stomachs, intestines, and heads – thrown into garbage cans without bags have become the cause of an eerie streak, which has been complained about by tourists vacationing in tourist cities in Turkey and Antalya, in particular. Wild local customs shock travelers who are far from religious ceremonies.

Despite the authorities’ ban on throwing away the organs of sacrificial animals without proper packaging, some locals who celebrate Eid al-Adha from July 9 to July 12 ignored this order, Turkiyeturizm reported.

Complaints about the terrible stench of animal flesh decomposing in the heat began to come from tourists who attended cultural tours and went on jeep safaris, ATV tours, and eco-tours. So, the publication cited the tourist guide Ilkay Orakul on this issue: “After sacrificing the guts of animals, the ovaries of goats and bulls and their heads were thrown into garbage cans without bags. Our tourists saw and felt all this. The sight is not pleasant.

10-15 years ago, there was an incident at the bazaar, also related to a religious holiday. In the market, sellers slaughtered sacrificial animals. There was blood everywhere, and shocked tourists watched and took pictures. Tourists were spared the sight of blood only when municipalities began to plan places for sacrifices. Animal guts, which now ended up in garbage cans, shamed us in front of tourists. In the villages where we go on excursions, it is impossible to convey the smell that stands in the district. Tourists have to hold their noses. At the same time, there was also a terrible stench far from the places of emissions.”

Background: Eid al-Adha or Eid al-Adha (in Arabic) is a holiday of sacrifice, which is one of the two main Muslim holidays along with Uraza Bayram. On one of the days, an animal will be slaughtered for the sake of Allah. On holidays, hotels are usually full and there are no free places to be found.
