Package tours in Turkey have become more expensive, but prices for hotels and restaurants are also breaking records. Such statistics were presented by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat). The main reason is rising inflation: it was 69.97 percent in April and rose to a 24-year high of 73.50 percent in May.
“The highest price increase in May was observed in package tours – by 71.04%. In second place – passenger traffic 14.98%. In addition, other products, the prices of which rose the most in May, include other objects of the tourism industry – such as hotels, hostels and other similar places with 11.49%,” – said Turkish tourist media.
Among the products that showed the highest price growth, fresh fruit – which is often bought by tourists – rose by 12.52%. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco went up by 6.53%, entertainment, and culture – by 6.15%, and restaurants and hotels by 5.47%.
