A tiger shark ate a tourist alive in front of her husband in Hawaii, USA. This was reported by the Daily Star.
According to data, the tragedy occurred 45 meters from Cape Keawakapu on the popular Hawaiian island of Maui on December 8 while scuba diving in the waters of the Pacific Ocean. A sea predator swam up to a couple who came on vacation from Washington and began circling the man. He fought back with improvised means. As a result, the animal attacked the 60-year-old wife. The man did not see the details of the terrible event.
The man was able to swim to the shore to report what had happened to the rescue service. In an interview with the local publication KHNL, the man said that he and his wife tried to fight off the shark, but, unfortunately, only he managed to return home.
Now, another DLNR statement has revealed more details about the woman’s final moments. “The tourist told the officers that when the shark swam away, he continued to look for his wife, sticking his head out of the water and examining the surface,” the report said.
When the shark turned around, the frightened man noticed something sticking out of its mouth—something red around the shark’s gills. At the same time, vacationers on the beach began to shout for the tourist to get out of the water, because a shark was eating in the area. According to an eyewitness, he saw how “a large mouth of a shark continued to chew something in the middle of a red “cloud” in the water.” It was probably a tiger shark measuring approximately 3-3.5 meters in length.
Nevertheless, the woman was declared missing and rescuers and volunteers went in search of her. The tourist was searched for 40 hours. During this time, the sea area in a radius of almost 500 km was surveyed. It was clarified that the rescuers found only a set for underwater swimming and a part of a bathing suit.
