Getting to know street Thai food near Thailand’s famous beach can turn into trouble — up to several days in the hospital and painful vaccinations. On TikTok, locals and tourists are leaving frightening comments that rats have started attacking tourists at Bang Saen Beach in Chon Buri Province. The danger is considerable – many had to go to hospitals afterward, and tourists who did not have insurance had to pay for their lives out of their own pockets.
The viral video was launched by residents — one of them posted a video clip of his sister with a bite wound on social media. “Poor sister. She was bitten by a rat while he was eating on Bang Saen beach,” the user said. The victim was in the southern part of Bang Saen Beach, which is also known as Wannafa Beach, at the time of the attack. It is quite popular for its lively street food restaurants, food carts, and bars. Often the locals are ready to eat the ordered food while sitting on the beach – or right on the sidewalk.
Unfortunately, it’s not just people who are attracted to the search for Thai delis. Judging by how quickly the video went viral and the comments below it, rats have become a serious problem for the area. There are many rats, and all of them are not afraid of people. Be careful, take care of your food,” “They stole my food and ran away!” – wrote outraged users.
But other comments are more disturbing: “I was in the hospital for two days after being bitten by a rat,” writes one of the victims. And the author of the clip himself added in the next story that his injured sister was also taken to the hospital, in particular, she was given several vaccinations to prevent diseases that can come from rats.
Scandals with rats in busy “gastronomic” spots have also happened in other places, even in Bangkok. Therefore, tourists should be very careful in such places so as not to encounter dangerous animal. If you are bitten by a rat, it is recommended to immediately seek medical help – rats can be carriers of extremely dangerous diseases. However, you will have to survive at least shots from rabies and tetanus.
