The probability that the state of emergency will be lifted in Italy on April 1, which has been in force for 2 years in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, is quite high. This forecast was shared on February 7 with the portal Dip.org.ua by the head of one of the Italian host companies that has contacts in the government structures of the country.
According to him, the issue is being discussed at a high level and is actively lobbied by the Italian tourism industry, agricultural producers and entrepreneurs in other fields interested in intensifying inbound tourism. So far, only residents of the EU, the US, Canada and several other countries are allowed in for tourist purposes. It is the state of emergency that imposes restrictions on the admission of foreigners. In case of its abolition, most of the barriers should be removed automatically and the issuance of tours should be resumed.
The reason for the abolition of the state of emergency is the fact that most Italians have already been vaccinated or contracted the coronavirus. At the same time, lockdowns have a negative impact on the country’s economy. The next relief for everyone, regardless of vaccination status, is scheduled for February 11 – from this date it is allowed not to wear masks on the street, they will be mandatory only indoors. In addition, from today, February 7, the green pass, which allows you to visit restaurants, museums, cinemas, use public transport, etc. becomes indefinite for vaccinated. And foreigners vaccinated with drugs not approved by the EU or WHO are also promised to issue such a document in Italy – the technology of its registration is not yet clear.
