Egypt has launched an advertising campaign for its tourism opportunities in Asia, said Atef Abdel Latif, a member of the Southern Sinai Tourism Investors Association. According to him, the country of the Pyramids is stepping up cooperation with “many travel agents in Asian countries to attract tourists.” The main goal of the expert was unequivocal: “This is necessary to compensate for the absence of Russian and Ukrainian tourists who stopped flying to Egypt due to the war, and the closure of their airspace.”
The expert also identified the main target markets, saying that “there are flights that will reach Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, Cairo, Luxor and Aswan in the coming weeks from China, India, Indonesia and the Philippines.”
Along with Asian markets, Egypt is trying to move into a number of European markets. The emphasis is on the Italian one, from which, according to the expert, “flows will start from next month, and the peak of Italian flights will be reached in July.” These optimistic plans also apply to Australia, Canada and Latin America. In addition, Egypt continues to be active in the markets of the Middle East – this is the most realistic plan.
“Tourist traffic from Russia to Egypt has completely stopped since March 8. Currently, the number of Russian tourists in Egypt is very small, especially after Russian travel companies organized the process of evacuating Russian tourists from Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada, after their vacation, “- added the expert.
