Egypt’s resorts in the winter season can accommodate at least half a million British tourists. This was stated by British Ambassador to Cairo Gareth Bailey. It will be recalled that experts call the simultaneous return of the Russian and British markets the cause of problems with hotel rooms. And probably the situation will not only not change, but even worsen: in the resorts of Egypt, Russian tourists can sometimes expect overbooking.
According to the British ambassador himself, “close cooperation between his country and Egypt in the field of tourism has significantly improved after the return of flights to Sharm el-Sheikh.” He added that British tourism in Egypt ten years ago approached one million British tourists each year. He also expects that the number of British tourists in Egypt in the coming winter season will reach 500,000 people.
“Now the flow of tourists is returning to Egypt, and there is progress in restoring their numbers to the pandemic. Between 3,000 and 5,000 tourists a week now visit Egypt on more than 45 weekly flights,” he said. These are mostly resort tourists who fill the hotels of Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada and other resorts on the Red Sea.
“After Egypt was removed from the UK Red List, the number of flights increased to daily flights via British Airways,” the ambassador added. Previously, there were 2-3 such flights a week.
