Greece received more than a dozen awards at the World Travel Awards 2022 European gala ceremony, which took place in Mallorca, Spain.
During this year’s 29th World Travel Awards, also known as the “Tourism Oscars”, Athens was recognized as Europe’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination. In addition, a large number of Greek hotels have been awarded in various categories, as well as Greek travel companies and specialized travel agencies.
The World Travel Awards have been awarded since 1993. The choice is made by professionals employed in the tourism industry. The aim of the award is to help the tourism sector to improve while stimulating the competitiveness and quality of tourism services.
Greece has received a total of 17 awards in various categories, including: “Europe’s Leading Beach Resort”, “Europe’s Leading Boutique Hotel”, “Europe’s Leading Boutique Resort”, “Europe’s Leading Conference Resort”, etc.
Portugal was named the Best Destination in Europe by the World Travel Awards. She also won 30 other awards.
