Tour operators and travel agencies warn their customers before traveling to Spain: today’s laws in this sunny country are as harsh as they are sometimes unpredictable. And indeed it is.
It is unlikely that any of the tourists can guess that a rather ridiculous order has been operating on several Spanish beaches since 2016 (!). After the vote of the Benidorm city hall in 2016, the construction of sand structures was prohibited on the Levante beach – the main and longest in Salou. And any shapes and sizes. Such a simple sand castle will cost a round sum of 150 euros. But children’s digging and building kits – a bucket, a scoop, a rake, and molds – are sold in all nearby stores. And what else can kids do on the beach while their parents are “resting”?
However, Benidorm is not the only place where there is no place for sand creativity. This activity is also prohibited on the beaches of Arona in the south of Tenerife and Arico in the southeast of the island.
How to be? “Architects” must first apply to the Municipality for a permit, obtain it, and only then take the instrument to the beach.
As we already know, this is not the only law that can easily be broken while on holiday in Spain.
Several popular tourist destinations in Spain, including Barcelona and the Canary Islands, have banned smoking on beaches. Fines are up to 2,000 euros.
Serious punishment threatens those who are in a bathing suits outside the beach. In Barcelona, vacationers caught in a bikini in the city center can face a fine of up to 300 euros.
A similar violation – wearing a swimsuit in the wrong places in Mallorca – will cost 600 euros.
And those who jump into the pool next to the prohibition sign will be fined a huge amount of up to 1,500 euros.
What can we say about those who play noisy active games with the ball and rackets on the beach, thereby disturbing the peace of the rest …
And the rest of Spain, of course, is good, what can I say. Warm sea, clean air, beautiful tanned people, delicious food, and refreshing drinks. It remains only to get a visa and buy a “curve” ticket through Istanbul or Dubai.
