Experts from the Tourism Authority of Thailand explained why local street food is very popular and loved by tourists. The first reason is a large selection of various dishes for every taste, which can be obtained quickly. From early morning until late at night, you can buy almost everything right on the street – from noodles to ice cream. These peculiar mobile kitchens are considered to be no less a landmark of Thailand than famous beaches or museums.
The second reason is a democratic value. Buying groceries in the store and preparing them will cost much more than breakfast or dinner on the street. The average cost of most street food dishes is around 30-70 THB.
Finally, the last reason is that Thai cuisine is considered one of the most interesting, refined, and delicious, and street food is no exception. Recently, more and more “chefs from the streets” began to fall into the Michelin culinary guide. For example, there is a two-time Michelin star winner, Ms. Supinya “Jay Fay” Junsuta. Her signature dish is crab omelet.
