Dutch-Belgian rail company European Sleeper has announced the launch of a new night train between Paris and Berlin, starting March 26, 2026, operating three times a week.
The new line will partially fill the gap left by France’s SNCF and Austria’s ÖBB, which are ending their Paris–Berlin and Paris–Prague night services in December 2024.
Route and frequency
The new train will run via Brussels, making the existing Brussels–Berlin line twice as frequent — with six weekly services.
Departures from Paris are set for Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, arriving in Berlin the next morning.
Return trips from Berlin will operate on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights.
Financing expansion
To fund new rolling stock and cover startup costs, European Sleeper has launched its third investment campaign, seeking €2.3 million from private investors, companies, and institutions.
Since 2021, the company has raised €5.5 million through previous rounds.
Political and environmental support
The Réseau Action Climat (RAC) welcomed the initiative as “an encouraging step toward greener travel” but urged continued public subsidies for night trains such as Paris–Vienna.
French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot echoed that sentiment, stating:
“Any initiative that expands transport options without burdening taxpayers is a positive one.”
A return to Europe’s night rails
Founded in 2021, European Sleeper currently operates the Good Night Train (Brussels–Amsterdam–Berlin–Dresden–Prague).
Ticket sales for the Paris–Berlin route will open on December 16, 2025.
The move underscores the revival of Europe’s night train network as a sustainable alternative to short-haul flights.
