This was stated by ERR on Saturday through a spokesman for the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Taavi Aas, writes “European Truth”.
“Estonia joins the Polish initiative and forbids all Russian airlines to use our airspace,” Aas said.
“We are preparing a proposal for a decision to close Estonian airspace to Russian airlines. I urge our Baltic colleagues to do the same to cut Russia off from European airspace,” Aas added in a comment.
“Europe must be united and resolute in its response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!” – the minister added.
Bulgaria has closed the skies to all flights operated by Russian companies since Saturday (February 26th).
Earlier, Poland and the Czech Republic closed the skies for Russian planes.
Britain was the first to announce the closure of airspace for the Russians – on February 24, Aeroflot was included in a new package of sanctions. A similar step is possible from the EU.
In response, Russia has banned flights and transit for all aircraft connected to Britain.
