Environmental activists block planes at Amsterdam airport

According to the NL Times, members of Greenpeace and Extinction Rebellion breached the runway at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, over the weekend and blocked planes in the parking lot.

Eco-activists rode bicycles along the runway and chained themselves to airplanes.

As a result, more than 200 people were detained by the police. “They all committed a criminal offense,” the authorities said, noting that the prosecutor’s office would then decide on the fate of the detainees.
