The second mass foreign destination for Ukrainian and Russian tourists is rapidly regaining its position. During the November holidays, Egypt, for the first time in six years, took first place in sales to tour operators, ahead of its most obvious competitors – namely, Turkey and the UAE. It accounts for about 30% -40% of sales. This assessment was presented by ATOR experts.
Egypt unconditionally took first place in terms of total sales of major tour operators such as Anex Tour, Pegas Touristik, Coral Travel, TUI and Tez Tour. In second place was Turkey – mainly due to sightseeing tours to Istanbul. In third place were the UAE, which has not changed wealthy tourists – mainly sales in the area focused on products of the middle and upper segment; regarding “budget” tourists, as predicted by tour operators, returned to Egypt. Also in demand, but to a lesser extent, are the Dominican Republic, the Maldives, Cuba, Mexico, Hungary and Cyprus.
Thus while “anticoronavirus” actions of tourists from abroad didn’t scare away: holiday sales in November of this year increased in 1,5-2 times in comparison with the same period of last year. According to tourism market experts, this is due to both the opening of Egypt to the Russians and the increase in the number of destinations sold due to the easing of restrictions on travel around the world. Coral Travel and KMP Group reported a twofold increase, while TUI and Space Travel reported a 1.5-fold increase in international sales. In general, the growth is recorded by all tour operators surveyed by ATOR.
