The Statistical Service of Cyprus has calculated the flow of tourists to the republic for the first 5 months of 2022. During this time, almost 850 thousand tourists arrived at the resorts, which is 5 times higher than in the same period in 2021, when only 156 thousand tourists visited the country. On Wednesday, June 29, the Cyprus Mail newspaper reports.
According to the publication, the first place at the top was taken by travelers from the UK. 126 thousand people came to Cyprus from the shores of foggy Albion from January to May, which is 40% of the total tourist flow.
In second place are tourists from Poland and Israel – they accounted for 7.5 and 7%, respectively. And in quantitative terms – 23 and 22 thousand guests.
Holidaymakers from Germany, Sweden, and Greece close the rating. These countries collectively sent 40 thousand vacationers to the Cypriot resorts.
According to experts, this year there are no Russians at the top in terms of tourist flow for the first time in the past few years. And this is quite expected in connection with the suspension of air traffic between the Russian Federation and Cyprus.
