Crisis Hits the Skies: Lufthansa Cuts Routes for 2026

Авіакомпанія скасовує польоти до Тулузи, Ов’єдо, Таллінна та низки інших європейських міст, а також скорочує внутрішні рейси

German carrier Lufthansa has announced a significant reduction in its 2026 summer flight schedule as part of efforts to cut operating costs amid ongoing financial pressure in the aviation industry, according to DPA.

Under the revised timetable, effective March 29, 2026, Lufthansa will no longer operate flights between Frankfurt and Toulouse (France), as well as between Munich and Tallinn (Estonia).

Flights between Munich and Oviedo (Spain) have also been scrapped, and several other European connections will be adjusted as part of the cost-saving initiative.

The company further plans to reduce domestic flights to its two main hubs — Munich and Frankfurt — cutting around 50 internal routes due to high taxes and increasing airport fees.

Despite the cuts, Lufthansa Group, which also includes Brussels Airlines, Austrian Airlines, and Swiss, will still operate around 14,000 weekly flights to 330 destinations in about 100 countries in 2026.

Industry experts note that while the reduction could affect intra-European travel options, Lufthansa remains focused on maintaining strong business and transatlantic routes, which continue to generate the bulk of its profits.
