The Chilean Easter Island, located in the Pacific Ocean, will begin to receive tourists from August 1 after more than a two-year break caused by the pandemic.
The Chilean government said that from August 1, it will be allowed to increase the number of flights to two or three per week, depending on the epidemiological situation, and open the island to tourism.
Until August 1, one flight per week for local residents will continue to fly to the island.
The conditions under which foreigners will be able to visit the island will be announced later.
Recall that Easter Island has been closed to tourists since March 2020, until cases of coronavirus infection were detected on it. In just two years of the pandemic, 39 cases of infection were recorded there, but not a single death from COVID-19 was recorded.
