It is expected that in 2022 Bulgaria will be visited by 1.5 million more foreigners than in 2021, said BNR Rumen Draganov from the Institute of Analysis and Evaluation in Tourism. “The trips of Bulgarians traveling abroad have increased by about 100%.
Bulgaria is expected to receive 70,000 foreign guests for the Easter holidays, Draganov added.
There is interest in Bulgaria for the summer season in the context of flight restrictions due to the war in Ukraine. There are flights from unusual destinations, such as Croatia, Switzerland or Spain.
According to Draganov, Ukrainian refugees staying in Bulgarian hotels “will not interfere with the season, because there is a surplus and vacancies.”
Due to the excess supply and fierce competition, the expert does not expect a sharp jump in hotel prices.
