Trusting and wealthy tourists often become the target of scammers. The latter comes up with more and more new ways to get hold of money or valuables of careless travelers. Reddit users decided to share valuable observations and give advice to other tourists on how to protect themselves from deception, reports the tabloid Express.co.
According to a British tourist, if a bird shits on you while traveling, most likely you have become a victim of a pickpocket.
“The thief’s accomplice will probably run up to you and offer to dry you, give you a towel. It is at this moment that your pockets will be emptied. So, if you think that you have been hit by bird waste, try to get out of this place as soon as possible and do not accept help from no one,” concludes the tourist.
Bird-dropping scams have indeed become widespread in recent years.
“For example, in March 2022, two men were arrested in the Spanish resort of Costa del Sol. They “tagged” tourists with fake bird droppings. The criminals were accused of using stolen credit cards of deceived tourists. They were quietly pulled out of their pockets after this scam,” stated the publication.
