Antalya is becoming a Russian-speaking city: 40% of the resort’s residents are now emigrants from the former Soviet Union

From March-April 2022, the number of Russian citizens who came to Turkey and Antalya in particular, “not for tourism, but resettlement” has grown significantly.

According to Turkish media, currently, 30-40% of the resort’s population are Russian-speaking migrants. This number includes all immigrants from the republics of the former Soviet Union who have recently moved to Antalya.

According to a real estate expert, today in Antalya 30-40% of the permanent population are Russian-speaking people from the republics of the former USSR. At the same time, Russian citizens topped the list of foreigners who buy housing at the resort and start a business. Only in April this year, immigrants from Russia founded 136 companies in the resort, in March this figure was 64%.

“Many Russian citizens used to do business in Europe, now they have moved to Turkey. The first reason is that their business in Turkey is not under sanctions and they can work safely, “Oleg Kucherov added.
