Another European country has allowed women to swim topless

Women in Berlin were allowed to swim topless: the city authorities eliminated inequality after the appeal of one of the “victims”, reports Süddeutsche Zeitung.

According to the publication, there has never been an official ban on swimming without a swimsuit top for female representatives, but now the discrimination has been eliminated at the level of the authorities.

“The Berlin Senate Department for Justice, Diversity and Anti-Discrimination stated this effect,” the source said. “In the future, bathing rules will be applied in a ‘gender-fair’ manner.”

According to the administration of the Senate, the prehistory of the official statement is the satisfied complaint of an unknown 33-year-old German woman to the ombudsman responsible for the anti-discrimination law.

“In winter, the pool staff in Berlin, in Kaulsdorf, demanded that a citizen cover her chest. When she refused, she was expelled from a public place. In her complaint, she indicated that the internal rules of bathhouses do not contain any gender reservations, but only prescribe wearing ” standard bathing suits”. Now, after the order of the authorities, both “women and people with female breasts” can swim in swimming facilities without a top,” the report says.

Swimming topless is not yet something taken for granted by German women. The city of Göttingen in Lower Saxony was one of the first municipalities to allow both men and women to swim without a top last year.

Another major European city where ladies have long been allowed to swim topless in Barcelona.
